If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. –II Chronicles 7:14
Since 2015, ministry leaders across denominations in El Dorado and Union County, Arkansas have joined forces each year to organize a 40-day initiative, challenging believers to unite in concentrated, coordinated community-wide prayer.
Together as a community, let’s unite to humble ourselves through prayer, offering praise to God for is goodness and seeking His intervention to turn the hearts and minds of every person to His perfect love.
In the wake of the eruption of racial tension throughout our nation, being highlighted by social and mass media, as well as economic challenges and other struggles faced by Americans, there is an increase the potential to lose hope, to start accusing each other and to use acts of violence as attempted solutions to problems.
We as Christians know that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the unseen evil forces seeking to devour us (Ephesians 6:10-20; I Peter 5:8). Alone, we don’t have the strength to defeat Satan’s advances against us, but mercifully, we have the might of the full armor of God in us, so that we can stand our ground.
The Church, as the Body of Christ, is an important vehicle to bring healing. There is great power in praying to God through his son and our savior, Jesus. On all occasions, with all kinds of prayer, public, private, and secret; social and solitary; solemn and sudden, God invites us to seek Him, to confess our sins, to petition Him for mercy, to offer praise and thanks to Him for His goodness. This bold 40 day community prayer initiative offers such an opportunity.
Our enemies are mighty, and we are weak, but our Redeemer is almighty, and in the power of His might, we will overcome.
May God heal and unite us!
