DAY 9: Friday, October 9

TOPIC:  Persecuted Christians

SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 4:12, 14  Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

OBSERVATION:  Satan’s greatest victory is helping us become comfortable in the world and quiet about Jesus. In North Korea the slightest hint of worshipping Jesus can have devastating consequences. North Korean believers, Eun-Yeong and Cheol-Ho met Jesus on the border of North Korea and were discipled in an Open Doors safehouse there. They felt called to return, took the good news back into North Korea and despite the grave dangers, sent a simple message back across the border, Our Church Family has grown to five. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is Sunday, November 1. Hold tight to the Word of God.

PRAYER: Dear God, we pray for the Christians of this world and especially those that are actively seeking your word. We ask that you protect us, keep us motivated and active in our daily delivery of your message.

DAY 8:  Thursday, October 8 

TOPIC:  Protection for our Children 

SCRIPTURE:  “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” Proverbs 22:6

OBSERVATION:  This beautiful time of year, trees begin to shed their branches of many acorns.  Have you noticed how God has prepared a place for them on the ground?  Fertile soil, moisture and cushioning leaves!  He plans for deep roots to develop long before that acorn becomes a tall strong oak tree.  In the same way, God plants children in families to nurture, protect and build a foundation to support the adults they will become.

PRAYER:  Lord, help us to show your love to children by example, using the truth of your Word, encouragement and prayer. Be present with each family in our community, and help them to entrust their children to your care.

DAY 7:  Wednesday, October 7

TOPIC:  Strong Marriages 

SCRIPTURE:  “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”  Genesis 2:18

OBSERVATION:  Lonely. In a perfect garden, uncorrupted by sin, loneliness still takes root. It was the first problem for which God provided a solution for mankind. Genesis describes that man and woman did not come to be by the formation of blind forces, but rather that the most intelligent and creative mind imaginable, imagined two creatures that would be perfect for caring for one another and the rest of His beautiful creation.

PRAYER:  Dear Father, we are grateful for the beauty of your creation, and that you would choose to create us in your image. Father thank you for providing in marriage this wonderful opportunity to reflect the self-giving love that you share with the Spirit and Jesus. God, strengthen our marriages, help us to lean into your design for this sacred covenant relationship so that we can flourish to glorify you!

DAY 6:  Tuesday, October 6     

TOPIC:  Love and Forgiveness

SCRIPTURE:  Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

OBSERVATION: God’s Word instructs us to forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven us. There is no greater example of forgiveness than what Christ has shown us. In a world that often encourages division, bitterness, and holding grudges, Scripture calls us to live differently. We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves and extend grace, even when it is difficult. This is how we demonstrate the love of Christ—not only through our words but through our willingness to love and forgive one another.  Love and forgiveness brings unity, strengthens relationships, and builds a stronger community.

PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, give us the boldness to forgive when it is hard and to love when it is difficult. You gave us the greatest example by loving and forgiving us first, even when we did not deserve it. Let love and forgiveness be the catalyst that draws our community closer together and draws people closer to You. Go before us, lead us, and guide us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

DAY 5:  Monday, October 5        

TOPIC: Upcoming Elections

SCRIPTURE: “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” Proverbs 21:1

OBSERVATION: Proverbs reminds us that no leader is beyond God’s reach or outside His sovereignty. Elections place people in positions of authority, but God remains the ultimate ruler. Our confidence is not in a candidate, party, or political process. We can trust God to direct the hearts of those who lead.

 PRAYER:  Father, as we reach election day, we acknowledge that You are sovereign over every leader and outcome. Give us wisdom as we vote and guard our hearts from fear, anger, and division. Direct the hearts of those elected so that they govern with justice, mercy, humility, and integrity. Give them wisdom to make decisions that honor what is right and serve the people entrusted to them. Protect our communities from violence, deception, and hatred, and help us pursue peace even when we disagree. Keep Your Church faithful to its calling, remembering that our allegiance is to Jesus and our hope is not found in politics. Lord, ruler over those who rule, guide those who vote, and let Your purposes be accomplished. In Jesus’ name.

DAY 4:  Sunday, October 4         

TOPIC:  Praise of God

SCRIPTURE:  “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!  Serve the LORD with gladness!  Come into his presence with singing!  Know that the LORD, he is God!  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!  Give thanks to him; bless his name!  For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”  Psalm 100

OBSERVATION: God is worthy of ALL praise! May we be reminded every day…not only on good days, but difficult ones, too…that we have so much for which to be thankful.  Let us praise him regardless of our circumstance knowing that he delights in our praise.  

PRAYER: Father God, we praise your holy name.  We lift our voice to you in thanksgiving for all that you are to us.  We are honored to enter your presence today to glorify your name.  Together we cry, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!  Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”  To God be the Glory! Amen.

DAY 3:  Saturday, October 3

TOPIC:  Peace in our Community

SCRIPTURE:  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” – Matthew 5:9.

OBSERVATION: Peace in a community is built when people choose compassion over anger, understanding over division, and service over selfishness. Jesus calls us to be peacemakers- to actively carry His peace into our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and daily interactions. True peace begins in hearts surrendered to God and spreads when we treat one another with dignity, patience, and love.

PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, we ask You to bring peace to our community. Protect our families, guide our leaders, strengthen our churches, and give wisdom and protection to those who serve and protect our citizens. Where there is division, bring unity. When there is frustration, bring understanding.  Where there is fear, bring comfort. Help each of us become peacemakers who demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect toward our neighbors. May our community be a place where families feel safe, people care for one another, and Your peace is evident in the way we live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY 2:  Friday, October 2

TOPIC:  Revival & Spiritual Awakening

SCRIPTURE: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” -2 Chronicles 7:14

OBSERVATION:  This scripture reminds us that revival begins with God’s people.  God calls us to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our sinful ways.  Revival is not first about changing our nation; it is about allowing God to change us.  When His people genuinely return to Him, He promises to hear, forgive, and bring healing. 

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves before you. Forgive us the ways we have turned from you. Awaken Your Church across America and give us hearts that earnestly seek your face. Help us repent, pray faithfully, and live according to your Word. Pour out Your Spirit upon our communities and nation. Bring healing, righteousness, and a powerful spiritual awakening. May revival begin in us and spread through our land. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY 1: Thursday, October 1   (Community Prayer – City Hall at Noon)

TOPIC:  Families

SCRIPTURE:  “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

OBSERVATION: In a world that is more connected than ever before, families are divided, isolated, anxious, and lonely. Families are busier than ever with workloads and ball tournaments. Families are influenced by unrealistic standards. Homes are void of peace. Families need their hearts and minds guarded from rampant deception in the world, and this guard comes from the Lord’s peace.

PRAYER: Lord, let there be a revival among the families of El Dorado and throughout the county. Let families reject the distractions and impossible standards of the world, bringing every thought and worry to the feet of Jesus. Let families once again seek Your face, turning from the ways of the world around us. As they do, guard their hearts and minds from growing deception with the peace that only comes from You.

DAY 40:  Sunday, November 9 

TOPIC:  Praise to God Who Holds the Future

SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ”¹⁶ That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. ¹⁷ For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! ¹⁸ So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (NLT)

OBSERVATION: Trouble and trials will come at us from seemingly every side. But we stand not from the viewpoint of the hopeless but rather the hopeful. Being a Christian is not the end of all struggles or trials, but a door into a new understanding and outlook on the future. In Christ Jesus we can be confident that our struggles are not only developing us, but also refining us into the image of the Son.

PRAYER: Father fix our eyes on the Son who is the perfect image of you and who has provided us His Spirit to lead us in all truth. Holy Spirit remind us of the future hope we have in Jesus Christ and our security in this glory. Give us peace through the uncertainty of life, and refine us to look more and more like your Son. May we fix our eyes on the eternal, and always praise you, the one who holds our tomorrow. In Jesus name, Amen.
