DAY 12: Those in Nursing Homes

Those in Nursing Homes

24

Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:32- NIV)

CONSIDER: With COVID restrictions caring for those in nursing homes is not an easy thing to do. Over 1.5 million Americans live in these facilities today, and with visiting restrictions we need to pray for them daily and look for other ways we can show our love for them. Jesus told us, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40).

PRAY: Lord, we are thankful for nursing homes and for those who dedicate their lives to care for our older friends. For those living in these homes, we ask for comfort and joy. We pray they feel your presence and know they are precious to you. We pray they are treated with dignity and respect. We also ask You to be with their families and caregivers who have a challenging job. Please give them strength when they become tired, and help them to be sensitive to the needs of these wonderful loved ones. In Jesus’ name, Amen

DAY 11: Hospitals and Healthcare Professionals

23

Hospitals and Healthcare Professionals

May the favor of our LORD our GOD rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes establish the work of our hands.  -Psalm 90:17 (KJV)

CONSIDER: Our healthcare workers are overwhelmed, overworked, anxious, and at times tired, but most  believe  they are  GOD’s eyes, arms, hands, legs, and voice to care  for patients, and be there for them medically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

PRAY: Father GOD we thank you for covering us  in the  BLOOD OF JESUS. Thank YOU for  keeping us safe from dangers seen and unseen and allowing someone to see CHRIST in us daily. Amen

DAY 10: Praise of Christ

Praise of Christ

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5

CONSIDER: God gave us Jesus to save us from ourselves and our sin. Our living hope and our eternal future is in Him. Praise Jesus! Praise God!

PRAY: Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace You sent the Lord Jesus to take the punishment for my sin so that by believing on Him I might be forgiven, redeemed and born into Your heavenly family. Thank You that He is my living hope so that the life I now live in this body, I live by faith in the Son of God. Thank You Father for the lasting hope that is kept for me in heavenly places. Thank You that this glorious inheritance does not depend on my faithfulness but on YOURS. You are a good and gracious God and I love You Lord, AMEN.

Copy of 2021 40 Days of Prayer [DAILY SOCIALS] (1)

Children

“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.” -Luke 15:20-NKJV

CONSIDER: Our children are faced with many challenges today. The only constant and for sure thing is CHRIST.

PRAY: Father GOD we pray for our children. We  pray that in this world they can discern your voice, and know they always have a home to return to and you are always there. In JESUS name Amen.

DAY 8: Families

19

Families

“Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” -Paul (Ephesians 6:1-4)

CONSIDER:  Each family member is mentioned in this passage with instructions for life.  Verses 10-18, “the whole armor of God”, gives understanding to the reader that this family unit will encounter conflicts and problems that originate from the powers of darkness.  With that in mind, we can pray accordingly.

PRAY:  Father, our families are precious and so we stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.  For the peace of our families we resist this enemy in the time of evil and we stand firm in our faith.  Not neglecting the belt of truth (the Word of God) and the body armor of God’s righteousness, we use the shield of faith and stop the fiery arrows of the devil.  We honor you, God, as our Heavenly Father and we trust you to keep us and deliver our families  in times of trouble.

DAY 7: Marriages

18

Marriages

“Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

CONSIDER: Marriage is in crisis today.  There are many reasons for this, but the real problem is a spiritual one that’s brought on by sin in our hearts. It’s important that we get back to God’s covenantal purpose of marriage found in His Word.  He designed marriage as a sacred and a joyous covenant.  He gave it as a gift to show the full expression of love between a man and a woman. It should always be honored and never taken lightly.  Let’s commit to pray for marriages.

PRAY: Jesus, today we pray that Your plan for marriage would be clearly displayed through our lives. We pray that we would honor our marriages completely.  We pray for open communication and to have the wisdom to listen when it would be easier to speak.  We pray for humility to say I’m sorry.  We pray for the graciousness to forgive like You forgave us.  We pray for You, Jesus, to be the center of our marriages and that when the world looks at us, they see You.  Help us to love each other like You have loved us.  Amen.

DAY 6: Cure for the COVID Pandemic

17

A Cure for the COVID Pandemic

“Now to Him who is ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…”  -Paul (Eph. 3:20-21).

CONSIDER: We serve a God who is able to do all things. Pray in faith that this pandemic will be eradicated. We are mindful of those who are battling this awful disease, their loved ones who battle with them, and pray for comfort to all who have lost loved ones to COVID.

PRAY: Dear God, Give our medical community wisdom as they research and work to discover a healing process for all those who have Covid-19.. We ask that you would dwell with all the scientists who are working daily to develop an effective and safe vaccine to combat this virus.  Lord, we trust you.  We ask this in the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

DAY 5: Peace in our World

16

Peace in our World

“Repay no one evil for evil but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” -Paul (Romans 12:17-18)

CONSIDER: Ask a random sampling of people for a definition of peace, and the most common answers will likely “no more wars, the end to senseless violence, or everyone being able to get along.” But the biblical concept also includes harmony, wholeness, completeness, welfare, and tranquility. It embraces all of creation, reconciled to God through Christ, being remade, and renewed as he intended it to be. Biblical peace isn’t something that we can create on our own, it is a fruit of the Spirit which is the evidence of God’s work in our lives when we are obedient to the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22-23).

PRAY: Lord, today I pray for every soul on earth to embrace Jesus Christ. His selflessness is reflected in our lives when we follow Him in faith, allowing others to catch a glimpse of who He is. Let my life shine as a good representative of love on earth and help me to look at others through the lens of love. While we pray for the world, remember that our true salvation comes from God through Jesus Christ. In Jesus name.

DAY 4: Peace in our Nation

15

Peace in our Nation

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”  Psalm 122:6-7

CONSIDER: We live in a day when the United States of America looks more like the Divided States of America.  We are in need of peacemakers who will seek out unity through the message of the Prince of Peace.

PRAY: Heavenly Father, may You give us a spirit of unity in the saving message of Jesus Christ, our Peace.  Break down the walls that keep us from loving each other the way Jesus commanded us.  Give us a heart of compassion to feel for one another and seek out peace in our community and country.  In Jesus name amen.

DAY 3: Praise of God

11

Praise of God

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” -Psalm 100:1

CONSIDER: When I think of giving praise to God my thoughts automatically go to the Psalms.  On this Lord’s Day, Psalm 100 comes to mind.  In this short Psalm he tells us how to enter worship and that is “…with joyful songs.”  When I am privileged to lead the congregation in songs on Sundays I like to begin with a song that is full of praise for my God and His Son Jesus Christ.  One of those songs is PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM, by Fanny Crosby (1820-1915).  What is so amazing is that she was totally blind from age 6 months!  Yet as one writer said, “She grew up a happy and an active child.”  She despite being blind wrote over 8,000 songs many of which are sung in worship !  Her life was of continual praise.

PRAY:  Heavenly Father may all glory and praise be to you this day as we assemble to worship you. May  we realize we are entering into your very present as we worship you. Help us to remember that our lives should be a Psalm of praise to you each day and not just on Sunday…Amen
