Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
-Hebrews 13:16
OBSERVATION: Christians often speak of “doing good” in the world. We are willing to give a homeless man a meal or provide school supplies to a child. We are willing to “do good” as long as it allows us to save. But, Hebrews 13:16 reminds us that to “do good” requires not saving, but sharing and sacrificing. Am I willing to share and to sacrifice in order to “do good” in the world?
PRAYER: Father, break my heart for those in need. Give me compassion to “do good” in your name. Grant me the willingness to share with others what you have so graciously given to me. Grant me the strength to sacrifice my possessions for the sake of all the people who surround me. Father, I want to “do good” to bring you glory and to be a witness to the glory of your Kingdom. Amen.
