- “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9
- “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—when you already have it with you.” – Proverbs 3:27-28
OBSERVATION: The poor are a reality in our community and we as Christians are called to be proactive in ministering to their needs and building relationships to help break cycles rather than simply treating the symptoms of poverty.
PRAYER: Father, shake us from our comfort zones and open our eyes to the plight of the poor amongst us. Forgive those of us who think this is only a “big city problem.” Help us to do more than merely talk, but actually minister in your name to those who are struggling.
