DAY 34: Prayers for a Peaceful Election
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7

CONSIDER: No matter the outcome of the election, there will be upset, and unrest felt in our country. Let’s be encouraged to pray for peace – a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Our nation will need a peace that no matter what disappointments we face, we can trust in the One who has it all worked out and is in our today and tomorrows. We can find hope in a faithful God who promises to be with us. God is in control, and He alone can bring the healing, wisdom, and peace that we long for.
The world around us is filled with turmoil. Our nation is under attack from within. Everyone seems to hate those who disagree with them. Even in the church, belief in a political figure has seemed to replace belief in our Savior. Many feel very overwhelmed. Our hearts ache from worry. It’s even hard to find peace in oneself. We know the Bible speaks of perfect peace that only You can grant us, a peace that no person can comprehend. HE will fill us with peace, we need to believe.
PRAY: Our Heavenly Father, Thank you for being with us and for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort us and to guide us. Lord, right now it feels like there is so much at stake, and there is a lot of anxiety about elections. We ask that You provide peace and comfort to the worried hearts of this country. Relieve their anxiety by helping them to focus on You and Your will. Help those who feel anxious to instead feel Your presence. Reign over us, O Lord, instead of fear. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
