DAY 37: Abused and Abusive
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”- Isaiah 40:29-31
CONSIDER: Abuse can occur to anyone of any age and gender and from any walk of life. It can include physical battery, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, financial abuse or exploitation, sexual abuse, and child or elder neglect or abandonment. Offenders are often victims of abuse themselves. Without intervention, the cycle of violence continues.
PRAY: Father God, we lift up those hurting from abuse. We pray for a peace that surpasses all understanding and for comfort even in the midst of despair. Rescue the helpless and restore to them strength and joy. Show us how we might intervene and give us the wisdom and resources to do all we can. We pray also for the abuser. We ask that you heal their pain and touch their hearts. Lead both the abused and the abuser away from the chains of darkness and into the light of freedom. In Jesus’ name, we believe and pray, Amen.
