DAY 13: Tuesday, October 13
TOPIC: Elderly and Those in Nursing Homes
SCRIPTURE: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. ” – 2 Timothy 1:5
OBSERVATION: With these words the Apostle Paul is commending the young disciple Timothy for his faith…a faith that began two generations back, and now was alive in Timothy. The young Timothy inherited his knowledge of Jesus and the Gospel message from his mother and grandmother. What a gift! So too, many of us have been blessed with faith passed down. Our elders have lived long and have not only faith, but wisdom we would do well to learn from. Often the elderly, and many in nursing homes, are forgotten. Often they are deemed irrelevant in our modern world. Not so! These precious folks are a living treasure, due our respect, our time, and our listening ears.
PRAYER: Father, we thank you for the elders in our lives, and the faith and wisdom they possess. We pray your blessings of grace and peace upon them, and for all those who are lonely at home or in the care of nursing homes. May we all live out the faith passed down. In Jesus name, Amen.
