DAY 18: Sunday, October 18
TOPIC: Praise of the Holy Spirit
SCRIPTURE: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery instead, be filled with the Spirit”. (Ephesians 5:18)
OBSERVATION: Day 18 of our 40 days of prayer is a gut check! How do you praise the Holy Spirit? First, let us remember that the third person of the Trinity, coequal with the Father and the Son is a personal God. This study of the Holy Spirit is called “pneumatology, meaning “spirit” or “breath”. The Greek and the Hebrew words especially “ruach” connotes “wind” or “breath”. The Holy Spirit desires to be the person within us that fills us, cleanses us, empowers us, and mobilizes us as dedicated disciples. In a time where communities, churches, and governments need a God-Awakening I offer this quote: “We are going to swing our church (community) back to holiness (which is our loving God) we are going to bring her back to life. (Through the Spirit) We are laying plans now to irrigate that dead tree and fertilize her and prune her and spray her and put her to bearing fruit again.” (utilized from Reuben A. Bud Robinson) How do we bring praise to the Holy Spirit? Let his earth, winds, fire, and smoke flow through us-that we may be filled with him, and share our gifts, that our community may flow with new life!
PRAYER: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we praise you! Call us to a deep abiding awareness of your spirit within us and let that spirit be shared by us to all we meet. In Jesus Name-Amen!
