40 Days of Prayer Launching October 1! 🙏🏿 🙏🏼 🙏🏾 đź™ŹđźŹ˝đź™Ź

El Dorado & Union County’s 8th year of community prayer campaign begins this Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. Over 30 ministers, ministry leaders, and community leaders from across the community are uniting to prepare daily prayer guides for our community to pray together over 40 days. Follow us to receive daily prayer reminder and specific message for each day:

CONSIDER: As we end our 40 Days of Prayer, let us continue to pray every day for our community, our state, and our nation. Although we have different opinions, so much more can be accomplished when we are unified looking to God for guidance. Let us go forward from these 40 days and remember to pray for God to guide us to do His will in this community with unconditional love for each other.

 

PRAY: Father, we thank You that we live in a nation where people can openly unite in prayer to You. We ask You to bless our community with unity and love while we work together to improve the quality of life for everyone here. Please help us always put You and Your ways first in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” -Psalm 31:24

CONSIDER: Helplessness and hopelessness fill the life of many addicts and their families. The addict is powerless to stop on their own and the family can do nothing to change that. Love is painful in this situation. Sometimes life is too hard to face, and the terrible alternative is chosen.

 

PRAY: Father, intervene. Step into the life of the addict and do whatever it takes for them to hit bottom. Help them find their way to you. Also, step into the life of the family. Hold them close. Gather support around them. Calm their fears and free them from undeserved guilt. Help all to trust your faithfulness. We pray this in Jesus name, Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”  – Revelation 1:8 NLT


CONSIDER: We can praise, with confidence and trust, the One who holds the future, because He is eternal.


PRAY: We praise the Eternal One that holds our future. We entrust our future to you. We trust the â€śending” to the One who wrote the beginning. You are faithful to bring to completion what you began. Our confidence is in You, The God eternal, that there exists nothing in our future that can take You by surprise. The Almighty One is Lord over the future.

DAY 37:  Abused and Abusive

DAY 37:  Abused and Abusive

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”- Isaiah 40:29-31

 

CONSIDER: Abuse can occur to anyone of any age and gender and from any walk of life. It can include physical battery, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, financial abuse or exploitation, sexual abuse, and child or elder neglect or abandonment. Offenders are often victims of abuse themselves. Without intervention, the cycle of violence continues. 

 

PRAY: Father God, we lift up those hurting from abuse. We pray for a peace that surpasses all understanding and for comfort even in the midst of despair. Rescue the helpless and restore to them strength and joy. Show us how we might intervene and give us the wisdom and resources to do all we can. We pray also for the abuser. We ask that you heal their pain and touch their hearts. Lead both the abused and the abuser away from the chains of darkness and into the light of freedom. In Jesus’ name, we believe and pray, Amen.

CONSIDER: “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Thomas Jefferson

 

PRAY: We praise you God for being the great God that you are. We praise you for allowing us to be born with the freedoms that we have here. We are thankful for the liberties that we still have, and we pray that you will restore the freedoms that we have lost. Father we are thankful for our country. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY 35:  For the Spiritual Leaders in our Community

“Oh Lord, Your Word declares that You are our Good Shepherd. Just as shepherds provides guidance for their sheep, we pray that You, Lord, provide guidance for every leader. I pray that You help them to be more like You. Help them know the condition of their flock. I pray that every leader gives careful attention those they lead, and that the relationship between those they lead will flourish. This is the prayer of our heart. Amen.” – Proverb 27:23

 

CONSIDER: Ministers, lay leaders, worship leaders, teachers, youth ministry, and volunteers. Our leaders in our churches need encouragement to hold steady in their call and find God’s peace and rest to keep their spirit refueled for the work ahead. 

 

PRAY: Lord, we pray for a refueled spirit in our spiritual leaders today. We pray they are each overwhelmed with the spirit as they remember the reason they started this work.  We pray for those leaders that are struggling with serving hurting and broken people. We ask that their souls not grow weary. We pray for their families, that they may see them and encourage them when needed.   Lord, we pray for the truth they speak. We pray it is received clearly and those words move people to action and toward love.  Lord, we pray for the grace you so freely give and the mercy we so eagerly receive. Today we pray that the floodgates are thrown open on our church leaders as they accept that grace and mercy. Most of all, we pray for rest and mediation for each of our leaders. We pray that the burdens of their ministry fall away and they find peace with you.

PRAYER WALK MOVED TO MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM

PRAYER WALK LOCATION UPDATE:
Due to the high probability of rain most of the day we are moving the “prayer walk” to the Municipal Auditorium (100 W. 8th St.).

Please make plans to be a part of this powerful statement of unity in our community.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium and will involve the following prayers:

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. – ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭‬‬

CONSIDER: No matter the outcome of the election, there will be upset, and unrest felt in our country.  Let’s be encouraged to pray for peace – a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Our nation will need a peace that no matter what disappointments we face, we can trust in the One who has it all worked out and is in our today and tomorrows. We can find hope in a faithful God who promises to be with us. God is in control, and He alone can bring the healing, wisdom, and peace that we long for.

The world around us is filled with turmoil. Our nation is under attack from within. Everyone seems to hate those who disagree with them. Even in the church, belief in a political figure has seemed to replace belief in our Savior.  Many feel very overwhelmed. Our hearts ache from worry. It’s even hard to find peace in oneself. We know the Bible speaks of perfect peace that only You can grant us, a peace that no person can comprehend. HE will fill us with peace, we need to believe.

PRAY: Our Heavenly Father, Thank you for being with us and for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort us and to guide us. Lord, right now it feels like there is so much at stake, and there is a lot of anxiety about elections. We ask that You provide peace and comfort to the worried hearts of this country. Relieve their anxiety by helping them to focus on You and Your will. Help those who feel anxious to instead feel Your presence. Reign over us, O Lord, instead of fear. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. – John 9:4

 

CONSIDER: In the gospel according to the writer John 9:4 it talks about working the works of Him that sent Jesus, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

 

PRAY: Lord we are asking you to give each of us individually and all of us collectively the stability and the ability to do our part to help our neighbors, provide for ourselves, and our families. Help us to see you the light of the world and see ourselves to walk by faith and do the works necessary to accomplish the task necessary to live comfortable in the world as we wait for your return, to take us to a far better place. Lord, when we are there with you, where everything that we need and want will be provided. Thank you Lord, for what we now have and thank you for that which you have for us in the future. Amen.
