DAY 29

Sunday, October 29

SCRIPTURE: “He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide for strong nations far away; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” -Micah 4:3

OBSERVATION: Bring PEACE to our City

PRAYER: Father, disarm our hearts and do away with racial and social groups. Walk with us and train us in YOUR ways of PEACE. Only you can do this. And we trust YOUR plan. Amen.

DAY 28

Saturday, October 28

SCRIPTURE: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” -Romans 13: 1

OBSERVATION: We are grateful for our elected officials and our first responders as they give of themselves for the betterment of our community. Be mindful and in prayer for their families as well.

PRAYER: Father, we pray today for the men and women of our community who protect and preserve the security and peace of our community. We ask for their safety and success.

DAY 27

Friday, October 27

SCRIPTURE: “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering” -Hebrews 13:3

OBSERVATION: We remember today those who are in our jails and prisons and the families who must adapt to life without a loved one in the home.

PRAYER: Father we pray for our families in the community that have been affected by the violent actions of others. Give them peace and comfort during their season of struggle.

DAY 26

Thursday, October 26

SCRIPTURE: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” -Psalm 139:23-24

OBSERVATION: We must be willing to humbly address the sin in our own lives before an all-knowing God in order for Him to fully use us to accomplish His will in our lives and in our churches and community.

PRAYER: Search our hearts, O God, and know our anxious thoughts; deliver us from worry and give us more faith.

DAY 25

Wednesday, October 25

SCRIPTURE: “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.” -Proverbs 14:27

OBSERVATION: With all of the wars, natural disasters, and hate filled hearts, have we forgotten that the Almighty God of all things is still in control and knows exactly what is going on? The things of this earth that are wrong in God’s eyes are right in our eyes. Do we not fear the one who has control of our life and especially our soul?

PRAYER: My prayer is that we repent from what is evil; Fear the Lord who is control of all things. May that fear draw us closer to the only one who can save the souls of this city. Once the power of the Holy Spirit has fallen upon us, may it guide us in the ways that are pleasing to the Lord, drawing us closer to Him, bringing glory to Christ Jesus!

DAY 24

Tuesday, October 24

SCRIPTURE: “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” -1 Timothy 2:1-4

OBSERVATION: God desires for all of us to live a peaceable and quiet life that is characterized by godliness and holiness.

PRAYER: God, please help us to be unified as we work together as a community for the cause of Jesus Christ. Help us to live peaceably among one another. And give us a desire to encourage and work with those who need our help.

DAY 23

Monday, October 23

SCRIPTURE: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” -Acts 47-2:42 NIV

OBSERVATION: The believers of the early Church were a committed people. They were connected to one another. They grew in their faith. They served others. They would continue to reach a lost world with the Gospel.

Today, committed followers of Christ should follow the example of the early Church. The change needed in our culture will be best led by committed followers of Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, empower us to live the way You desire, as committed followers of Christ. Revive Your Church from her current lukewarm, lethargic state. May we live as true believers, producing fruit, and not as nominal Christians. Use us to reach our world, including our community down the street, and people groups beyond our borders.

DAY 22

Sunday, October 22

SCRIPTURE: “That thy way may be known upon Earth, thy saving health among all Nations.” -Psalm 67:2

OBSERVATION: All of the disasters happening and all the famine on earth, our prayers should not be for ourselves and people we know and people we don’t know. We need to do more than that for our heavenly father to see that we are trying to better this planet, that he has entrusted us with. Our prayers should very well be for ourselves and family. However let us not leave out our neighbors, in the United States and other countries. So our prayer would be for the world as a whole.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for this beautiful world and all its inhabitants we bring to you this day a request for health, happiness, and mercy upon all of us on earth. We ask for comfort for all nations in distress your awesome loving kindness in all of the earth. Lord thank you for hearing our prayers all the glory belong to you. We pray these things in Jesus name amen.

DAY 21

Saturday, October 21

SCRIPTURE: “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed. I will sing and give praise…” – Psalm 57:7

OBSERVATION: “Fix” as defined by Miriam Webster, “To make firm, stable, or stationary; to hold or direct steadily; to establish.” In such divided, unsteady, and troubled times, how can we sing, give praise, rejoice, or even pray? As believers, we can do this more readily, if our hearts are fixed on God. Our faith, though challenged, is not deterred. We hold fast to what His Word says, also remembering what God has done in our lives as individuals. Christ’s love for us through His death on the cross is the greatest example for us today. His heart was fixed… on us, upon all of humanity. Let our hearts, as well, be fixed upon him.

PRAYER: Lord, help me today to keep my heart, mind, and spirit fixed upon You, and your love and strength, wisdom, and guidance. Let me be Your light in a dark place today.

DAY 20

Friday, October 20 (Optional Day of Fasting)

SCRIPTURE: “Won’t You revive us again, so Your people can rejoice in You?” -Psalm 85:6

OBSERVATION: The burden for revival can be summed up in one word: prayer. It was the late Leonard Ravenhill that said, “The Church is dying on its feet because it is not living on its knees.” This matter of prayer is important because if a true revival is to visit the Church there must be a basic relationship of life. Revival means to quicken, recover or restore- God desires that we have abundant life. Revival is that strange and sovereign work of God in which He visits His own people that have begun a new obedience to Him.

PRAYER: O Father, we repent of our sin and surrender our will to you today. We ask that you refresh our hearts and spirit today as we desire nothing but the awareness of Your presence in our lives. Give us wisdom as we call upon Your name. In the Name above every Name, Jesus. Amen.
